An Industrial Court in Enugu has ordered First Bank of Nigeria Plc, Awka branch, to release N1.5 billion for payment of salary arrears owed staff of Anambra State Water Corporation and Environmental Protection Agency by the state government, Vanguard reports.
The union had initiated the seven-year-old suit against the state government during the former governor, Peter Obi's administration for not paying their salaries as at when due.
Anambra State Governor Willie Obiano has assured the workers that the state government would respect the verdict of the court and work out modalities to ensure all the arrears were paid.
